Q: How does my time help Habitat for Humanity? A: Every task a volunteer does helps to reduce our overhead cost and allows us to direct even more of our proceeds to Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, who serves the midlands.
Q: When can I begin volunteering? A: All you need to do is give the Volunteer Coordinator a call at (803) 217-3212 or email

and schedule your initial visit to begin your hours. During that initial visit you will be given a Habitat Overview, introduced to everyone, fill out any remaining paperwork, and then you may begin volunteering!
Q: What should I wear to volunteer at the ReStore? A: Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and closed toe/heel shoes. Athletic shoes or boots are best - no ballet slippers, crocs, heels, clogs, sandals, etc.
Q: What are the age restrictions to volunteer at the ReStore? A: For safety reasons, the youngest age that can volunteer is 12 years old. Anyone between the ages of 12-14 years must have a parent or guardian with them at all times. Anyone under 18 years must have a parent or guardian sign the liability form.
Q: I'll be there all day, do you provide lunch? A: The ReStore does not provide lunch, but there are several lunch options nearby. There is a break room with a refrigerator and a microwave if you would like to pack a lunch.
Q: I'm supposed to start at 8:30AM, but the store doesn't open until 9AM. How do I get in? A: Knock on the front exit door and a ReStore staff member will let you in.
Q: Can I bring a group along? A: Certainly! We love to have groups volunteer at the ReStore. We can even schedule a special time for your group. Contact Laura Jeffcoat at (803) 217-3212 to arrange a time and please note that all volunteer groups must be scheduled in advance.
Q: What will I be doing during my time there? A: It varies. Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page for more information.
Q: I have a special skill that I think would be helpful to Habitat, but I don't see a category anywhere under the Volunteer Opportunities. How can I help using that skill? A: Contact us at Laura Jeffcoat at (803) 217-3212 to find out where you can help. We can use all types of skills, from plumbing, drywall installation and finishing, flooring installation, and electrical to artistic and everything in between.
